OA + Movember

Omega Access (OA) is a web series for teens directed and co-created by Marc O’Brien (Doras) and funded by the Movember Foundation in 2015/2016.

OA shines a light on seven very different men to discover who they are, what they love and how masculinity affects their lives. The series is built on three pillars: Health, Community and Reflection. With these in mind, OA aims to be a first step in shifting old attitudes of what men should grow up to be and challenges teens to open themselves up to new ways of living.

These 5-min artistic shorts tackle topics like: mental health, physical health, vulnerability, family, inner strength, community, sexuality and gender roles.

Martin walks us up a mountain and along his path of self-reflection. He’s built his own sanctuary where time has a softer edge. Here he can slow down and face parts of himself he couldn’t in the city.

Carey shows us what true bravery is when he opens up about his past. Through his emotional story he teaches us that painful experiences can call everything into question, but it’s our answers that shape who we become.

Jordan and Alex are best buds. Listening to their story makes you want to call the important people in your life. Vulnerability has a big role to play in their friendship and they remind us that regardless of how time and technology have changed, it’s rewarding to stick around when things get real.

Antonio takes us out on his board in an urban oasis and later shows us what it’s like to surf in frigid Canadian waters. Balance is a skill he practices in and out of the water as work, play, love and friendships have equal roles in defining his identity.

Sheldon undergoes an inspiring transformation almost every night. Looking like Tynomi Banks is an art form; becoming her is a decades long journey in self-worth. We follow Sheldon from prep to performance and learn about the strength it takes to walk in a woman’s shoes.

Mark and his band throw a street party and reenact the tipping point in recent Ukrainian history and his personal past. Music and community are synonymous for this violinist, athlete, poet and activist. His story shows how our experiences with other people can completely enrich and transform us.
